Last week, New Vision hosted our annual Sensational Egg Hunt, an event centered on creating an inclusive, engaging, and joy-filled experience for children who are blind or have low vision.

The event featured a variety of hands-on activity stations that encouraged creativity and sensory exploration. Children decorated Easter egg-shaped cookies, experimented with oobleck, a fascinating non-Newtonian fluid, and explored sensory buckets filled with materials like pasta, water beads, and Easter grass, where hidden eggs waited to be discovered. Other stations included painting wooden 3D flowers and enjoying a few rounds of bowling, offering something for every interest.

A special highlight for many attendees was a visit from Bob the Bunny, the Easter Bunny’s blind brother, who spent time taking photos and sharing in the excitement of the day.

The event concluded with the much-anticipated beeping egg hunt held on the lawn in front of our office. Using sound to guide them, children searched for eggs designed to emit beeping noises. To foster a shared experience, sighted participants wore blindfolds, allowing them to engage with the activity from a different perspective.

Events like the Sensational Egg Hunt demonstrate the impact of inclusive programming and the importance of creating spaces where all children can participate fully. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success!
